3" Headers and Dual Cutouts?
Anyone running dual cutouts on a 4th Gen currently? I'm guessing the same would apply to an LS motor, maybe someone has done that on an LS?
Is there a huge advantage to dual cutouts vs the single cutout???
True duals are best powerwise.
My 3rd Gen 91 RS has a 383 LS1 and runs long tube headers, dual electric cut outs, Y pipe and a free flow SLP Dual/Dual catback. The car is quiet with the catback. Open cut outs were worth 20 whp on the dyno in back to back testing for my car. That's probably due to the crappy 3 inch Y pipe and close to 15 whp. Electric cut outs are cool but they start to leak and they tend to be what scrap on my lowered car. I'd rather daily the RS because it's quite with the cut outs closed.
Typically on an LS1 heads & cam car an open cut out was worth ~10 whp for cars that made ~400 to 450 whp over an excellent flowing catback like a Corsa or SLP Dual/Dual etc.
My 416 99 T/A has long tubes, x pipe and true dual exhaust. It's gets more attention due to being louder. I used to have Y pipe & cut out with 416. I like the true duals much better with the 416 except for the noise.
