Help... Engine doing weird things

Default Help... Engine doing weird things

So... I get my TA home from work, park and go get my wife's keys to move her car. Move her car, then start the TA back up.....the TA brake pedal is stiff as hell and the RPMs are stupid high. Was not doing this 10 mins ago. WTF?!

Ok, so now that I have calmed down, I am guessing that it is probably just a vacuum leak.

Yeah, sounds like it could be a big intake manifold leak somewhere. Perhaps you have one of the nipples capped off and the rubber cap has split? Or maybe a crack or failure in the actual line going from booster to manifold? Also check plastic fittings on the end of that big line.

Could also be a Idle Air Control Valve going bad.

Sounds like the vac hose to the booster fell off.

It's the brake booster vacuum at the back of the intake. Hopefully some thick long sleeves will keep my forearm from becoming ground beef.

Added a 90 degree piece of vacuum tube instead of bending the stock vacuum hose. Spent some time getting the hose as far on the nipple as I could, while keeping the clip in place.

So... all vacuum hoses are getting added to the list with the new engine. At this point, everything inside the engine bay is going to be new.

Generally, I try to replace as much as possible that is hard to access with the engine installed whenever I do an engine swap. It just makes things easier down the line. Nothing worse than having to replace a cracked hose or corroded hardline that snakes behind the engine months after a swap.
