Default ATI Superdamper R&R

ATI recommends a rebuild about every 10 years, so I bought another 917264 to install and plan to send the old back for a rebuild.

1) The docs say to use the ATI 918998 puller kit and not a 3-jaw puller. That ATI kit is almost $800, is there a less expensive method to properly remove it?
2) I found some comments on YouTube that the LS3 engine built at Wixom (at least as it came in the Grand Sport with the dry sump) is externally balanced, unlike the internally balanced LS1. First I heard of that. I have a built LS3, does it matter that I bought the Fbody 917264? I'm pretty sure I mentioned having a ls3 in my fbody when I spoke with ATI tech before ordering.

ALL LS3's (all LS engines for that matter) are internally balanced, regardless of assembly plant.

That ATI number you have is the kit to Rebuild the puller. Not to pull it off or install it. You need ATI 918999. That's the puller. I got it off Amazon for mine for $233. Just go to Amazon and put in ATI 918999. That will bring it right up.

Thanks, I was going off their instructions under required tools (upper left). That cost is more reasonable.

I went through this recently. I purchased 918999SC and Proform 66514, along with (3) 5/16"x 1 1/2" grade 8 bolts and washers to pull the ATI balancer off.

I had the ATI tool and boogered up the threads on one of the inserts and didn't feel like purchasing another one.
