Default bell housing bolts

I am getting closer to setting my lq4 into the 69 Camaro. I noticed that the lq4 has a bolt at the top and is missing the first bolt on the passenger side. While the transmission does not have a bolt on the top. So what do yall do for this?

Make absolutely sure that both dowel pins are in the back of the engine, and use the 5 bolt holes that are present. You will be fine. Those of us running 4L80E's behind LS motors have been running them this way for a long time now and there are no issues.

And also realize that the bellhousing will also bolt into the oil pan at the bottom with two bolts, if using an OEM pan. Oil pan on the LS platform is structural.

Maybe I should get the longer dowel pins as it has a midplate. I bought this car like this and Im not sure what kind of transmission that is.

Looks like a 4L80. Yeah, just use the bolts that match on the threads. There's a cast aluminum torque converter cover that bolts to the transmission and the engine. Probably should install that as well. But I think a lot of guys run them w/o that cover?

If you are running a mid-plate that goes between the engine block and the transmission, yes, you should most definitely get longer dowel pins, and also.... you might want to check your converter to flywheel clearance and make the necessary changes there as well. You must have the proper amount of engagement between the converter neck and the inner pump gear. Too deep, or too little engagement (your situation) can be deadly to the transmission.
