02 Camaro with 454 LSX

Hello all I bought an anniversary issue Camaro that has a LSX 454 installed with the rest of the power train and suspension to handle it. First thing I noticed is they have a breather on the passenger side valve cover and it leaks oil because there isn’t any baffles in the covers. It seems to me like it should be a closed loop system since it has hoses going to the intake and both valve covers entering into an oil catch can that is tied into the system. I put another catch can on the top of the valve cover where the oil goes and it is vented to atmosphere before I thought maybe the guy before me didn’t know what he was doing and I should put a sealed plug on the valve cover oil fill hole so the system is closed loop. What are your thoughts on this?

Nothing wrong with the way he has it actually other then you saying it's making a mess. The valley cover has built in PCV utilizing a sealed catch can so you could just remove the breather from the valve cover and be done with it.

So long as the directions are followed and you don't have any burned pistons or broken lands these work great!
