5.7 LS6 rear steam vent Installed a new factory steam vent on the rear ports of my 03 Z06. It keeps leaking… new O rings as well. Front steam vent doesn’t have the metal bushing/gasket with the O ring, and doesn’t leak…. Very thing I’ve read says these metal gaskets/bushing must be used. Yet it still leaks, even torqued to proper spec.

early steam pipes took the metal rubber gaskets.....later just took the rubber O rings....looking at the bottom of the block ...if its flat....metal rubber gasket....ringed around the pipe.....O ring

Hello guys thats kind of weird as the a/c connections all use similar steel washers with rubber or HNBR and they work very well potentially up to around 500 psi. The cooling system should be around 16 or 17 psi although the cooling system can steam out the radiator cap being 1 of the more difficult issues to diagnose if You're not aware of the steaming out the cap thing. Personally I have lots and lots of o-rings black viton and HNBR so I whenever possible I custom fit o-rings that are just a little thicker and fit tighter and seal better for a longer period of time. Not always possible but sometimes it is. Good luck
