Quieter exhaust set up?

Quieter exhaust set up? Been trying to read through some threads to get ideas but thought I’d ask as well.
i have 67 Chevelle with a 6.0. Exhaust is long tubes to 3 inch h pipe and 3 inches to flow master 40s then tail pipes exiting behind rear tire.
anyone have ideas to quiet this down? I have cut outs so i can make it loud when i want but my wife hates how loud it is while driving. Car has dymnamat throughout as well. I’m considering putting resonators in between h pipe and flow masters or should i do a different muffler?
Anyone with real world experience using resonators to quiet it down? Or any mufflers y’all would suggest that don’t break bank?

I started with 40 series Flowmasters on the Chevelle build. That lasted about 60 miles. I’m Flowmasters biggest fan. I’ve ran them on several mustangs, Camaros, and even on my show truck stuff. But they just don’t mesh well with the LS engine. I pulled them off and went with Borla Pro XS mufflers. They are smaller, lighter, and look nicer. Best of all they are much quieter, ZERO drone, yet when you open it up, it will still sound like a performance engine. I’d recommend them to anyone without issue. You’ll love it!

Borla XS, Magnaflows or Dynomax turbos (3"). All flow very well, but are a little more and have a great low tone sound. They're also less likely to drone than a chambered muffler.
Reduce the tailpipes after the new mufflers to 2.5". That'll also quiet it down. And as stated earlier run the tailpipes out to the bumper.
I'm sure resonators would also help, but haven't used them so can't recommend anything.
The above won't be totally stealthy, but should probably keep the wife happy.

Just swap the flowmasters for magnaflows or borlas pro xs or borla xr1 like mentioned above, it's a win win, sound way better in my opinion, slightly quieter (less drone and deeper tone) and flow a ton better than chambered mufflers. Leave the 3" tail pipes also..and if you're feeling up for it change the H pipe to an X pipe, also helps with tone.

I have a Flowmaster 70 on my jeep wrangler, 2>1 2x2.5 till the y pipe makes it 3" before the muffler then 3" to the rear. I have flowmaster bullet cats as well behind a 5.3/L33 , sound amazing I am not a loud exhaust guy. has a quiet rumble as long as you dont floor it it gets loud under wot but then drops back once your off the gas.
Note they are LONG.
