Harmonic Balancer Spec. - Gen 3 LM7
The best I can dig up is a reference to GM document #PIP4750E. This document list 0.4mm as an allowable runout but doesn't explicitly call out a 5.3 motor.
I just had the original replaced and I'm not really liking the runout because it is causing the AC pulley to bounce.
I measured the runout on the grooves and it is 0.025" or 0.63mm. See picture.
This was a Delco part so not sure buying a better one is possible. The mechanic said he would not be able to guarantee a runout but would replace it. Could be that one would have to purchase a performance damper that is not made with
rubber separating the parts. Some of the performance dampers have an "internal" damping element. Any ideas?
Thanks,
