Exhaust cut out Hey guys,
I usually hang out at LS1.com but I thought I would give this site a try. I am looking into installing a 3 inch cutout and I had a few questions. So, here we go: are they prone to leak, just how much louder are they, will the cut out sound good with my ORY-pipe, how hard are they to reach to open, will it add rasp when closed since there will be another Y in the pipe, and is there any performance increase when using one?
Help me out here guys and maybe I will come around here more often!

are they prone to leak: Only the electric ones will leak. A little RTV will fix that. Regular ones wont as long as you use the gasket.
just how much louder are they: Quite a bit louder, but tolerable.
will the cut out sound good with my ORY-pipe: Might be a little raspy. I loved mine with MAC's and an ORY.
how hard are they to reach to open: Depends where you put it.
will it add rasp when closed: No
there any performance increase when using one: Definitly. I have seen 5 rwhp on stock cars and up to 25 rwhp gains on modified motors.

i have the q-tec electrick cutout.(i'm to lazy to crawl under and open it)it will make the car alot louder(mean sounding) and i have no extra rasp when closed. it's welded on at the end of my y-pipe and i have no leaking problems at all .on the dyno i gained 9hp and 11tq when opened. at the track i gained .1 in the 1/4mi. i love the sound and keep it open near all the time,i've had nothing but goodluck with it. goodluck to ya.
i noticed on your sig you have a flowbastard too. you WANT to put a cutout in there trust me you can really feel the difference. ive got a gmmg exhaust coming so i may be taking my qtec off let me know if you want it.
