You need to tap into a wire at the PCM in the engine compartment, then run a wire through the firewall to the shiftlight, put your ground on a screw/bolt that's directly on a metal part of the car (there's a good one under the passenger side dash), and tap into an Acc. power source (I tapped into the power wire for the ASR switch).
