I hear that. I'm looking to add some more mods and go catless soon. So if I don't go with an X pipe and true dual setup, the LM may become a bit much, and I may switch to the magnaflow. That would be my second choice to anyone looking for a catback after the LM. And first if the LM is too loud for them.

Yeah, I think it sounds best with LT's with CATS... My rasp went totally away. I ended up selling mine because my car is lowered and they hung too low and I would hit them going over a dime (exagerating).

I had SLP LT's and SLP ORY and SLP LM - I drove the car 0.4mi before I thought it was the worst exhaust ever! Now having said that, I tried my stock catback - too quiet, BUT STILL HAD RASP. I now have a Magnaflow catback and the car sounds great, BUT STILL HAVE RASP. No matter what you do, you are going to get rasp without cats. I like my LM when it was my ONLY MOD. Only reason I went with a full style muffler cat back, was for interior drone. The Magnaflow cured all interior noise and still SCREAMS at WOT! My $0.02
You're EXACTLY right about that. I've tried telling this to everyone, yet there are so many that believe that certain "single exhaust" cat-back systems don't have any rasp without cats. The truth is, they all do, but some just have it worse than others. Borlas and LMs sound the absolute worst without cats IMO while the SLP dual/dual and Hooker sounds the best without too much annoying rasp or popping.

Don't want rasp? Keep some damn CATS on the car! Or you'll have to run a true dual set-up which actually does not rasp without cats becaus of the "X-pipe" set-up. But true duals are not for everyone either...

Illinois emissions are a breeze as long as your SES light does not come on your find...just get your 02 front 02 sensors in and get rear 02 simulators youll pass no problem...see if ls1speed in schaumburg can do an install unless oyu kno somewhere else

we do the OBDII scan for codes

I have the SLP Loudmouth with Mac mid length headers with cats and it sounds healthy. I've had many compliments, don't regret it at all. It has the usual drone between 1800-2100 RPMs in overdrive.
