Default SLP dual/dual...

...I've read alot about people thinking its way to quiet and I'm thinking I agree. I went from 6th to 4th yesterday to pass a truck and I couldent even hear it.

Is swaping out the muffler the only thing I can do? Yea I could get a cut out but thats too loud. I hate the thought of changing anything because its all welded stainless....even my tips are welded and I do NOT want to change them.

I suggest maybe dropping some money into a nice set of headers. You'll get some extra power and it will wake up the SLP dual/dual. I did this to mine with a custom y and it sounds really good, not to loud, but not to quiet

I am having the EXACT same debate with the d/d. I think it might be too quiet and I would like to do something to wake it up a little.

One thing I did was have a fried drive my car while I stood outside and listened to it. The d/d might be quiet, but it does sound good, expecially when laying down a nice dark patch of rubber. Have someone else drive you car as you stand outside, and I bet you will still pop wood, even though the d/d is no GMMG or loudmouth.

I have also noticed that the sound has increased each time I do an intake mod, and I'm betting that a set of LT headers and new catted Y would make the dual/dual much better.

Once you start doing mods to the car, you'll appreciate it more.

I love mine.

I have the DD and SLP long tubes and I love the sound.
It is not too loud, but somebody who knows their stuff will understand that
it sounds a little different!

I'll learn to love it I guess. I'm just so programed to the way my Z28 sounded with the hooker catback.... well it was a tad louder.

I have long tubes and a 3 inch ORYP on my 1996 LT1. When I put the headers on, I had a flowmaster and it was too loud and tinny. I bought a D/D off of a nearly new firehawk and I love it. Quiet at cruise and no drone but when you open it up, it sounds really good and is fairly loud.

You need to decide on what you plan to do with mods. If you're thinking about headers and high flow cats then leave the dual/dual alone. If you're not, take it out and sell it - lot's of folks with headers etc. interested in the dual/dual and get a GMMG.

I had the same problem with my the Dual Dual it was way to quiet for me. I since changed mufflers out for a magnaflow one.The sound is better but I think with headers it will be just right.

I had the d/d on my 02 hawk and it was too quiet so I bought a set of off road pipes from tbyrne, direct replacement for the factory cats and bolts to the y,really made it sound good. It was not loud at idle but at wot it was perfect. I am putting on lt's and true duals on my ws6 this week and have a set available if you are interested.
