Clicking noise from compressor

Clicking noise from compressor I hope someone may have an insight to this:
Yesterday as I turned on my a/c there was a clicking noise that seemed to be coming from my compressor. This would only happen when the compressor was running. Don't know if this may have something to do with anything, but about two weeks ago I had may water pump replaced, and maybe something happened during the repair. BTW, I recently switched out my belts so i don't think this is the problem.
Is my compressor on the way out too? Any ideas anyone?

mine started doing that
only did it when you had the AC on, so i decided to forget about it and just not use it at all
it still blew cold air, just made that loud clicking or knocking noise
does that mean the compressor is on the way out or what?

That is usually it's death rattle.
I say don't run it & get the compressor replaced. That way the compressor doesn't come apart & send debris into the rest of the system to haunt your replacement compressor. Every place requires a flush of the A/C system to warranty their compressors. But you can't always get every bit of debris out. Then replace the drier/accumulator , oriffice tube & put a suction screen /filter in the bad one's. That's the prefered method of doing it. (someone elses car/warranty) You can just slap one in there & see what happens. Usually you can get away with it.
