Default Sound with a cutout vs. Open headers

I've just installed Pacesetter Headers on my car, with the cam its super loud and sounds really good with the headers. I haven't had the chance to take it to the exhuast shop yet so its been open headers for today . I haven't driven it around town or anything but its the greatest sound in the world when I floor It.

So now that i've heard my car with the open headers i'm thinking about getting a electric cutout because its WAY to loud to drive around town, I would get pulled over by the first cop I saw. So i'm wondering if a cutout would sound as good as the open headers do, or will it be a little bit quieter or what.

Thanks for the help guys.

Derek

One cut out placed in the typical location (in the 'I' pipe on the passenger side) will be much quieter than open headers because the exhaust still has to run through the Y pipe and part of the I pipe before it gets there.
Dual cut outs right at the header collectors will likely be just as loud as open headers though.

Don't put the cutouts right after the headers, put them about 6-12" away from the headers and make sure it's equal lengths on both sides. Dual cutous won't be quite as loud as open headers but it's as close as you can get and still be able to have a quiet exhaust for town. I had dual cutouts before I moved to true duals and I got tons of compliments on it at car shows and the track. Chances are with dual cutouts you'll be the loudest ls1 at the track.
