look what the dealer told me please help
i got an ses light last week so i scanned it with autotap,it was p0157 bank 2 sensor 2 so i took my car to the dealer, they said it was fixed and then on su nday i drove it and the ses light came on again. i called the service manager and he said they didnt replace the o2 sensor because when they scanned it, it showed up the o2 tripped at 123 mph and he wouldnt let his guy drive that fast. now my question is if the o2 is bad at 123 wouldnt it be bad at 0-65 mph? he said they tested all the sensors and they were ok.
If there is a code stored showing a faulty O2 sensor, they should replace the faulty O2 sensor. How fast were you going when it illuminated the second time? I'm surprised they didn't void your warranty for racing. That's what most dealers do.
In any case, any moron with a Tech II can see that something went wrong by simply scanning the PCM. Why do they need to try to reproduce it? It already happened and is stored in the PCM...what more proof do they need...a malfunction is a malfunction whether it happens at 0 mph or 100 mph.
Go show them the problem is still there...since GM made a car capable of going 123 mph, it should be able to do so without malfunctioning. It doesn't matter if they don't want to drive that fast...the bottom line is, there is a code stored in the PCM showing a malfunctioning O2 sensor. When something breaks under warranty, GM needs to fix it. Period. If that dealer won't do it, call GM Customer Service or try another dealer.

If the SES light is on, it is because the stupid O2 sensor is bad. The computer also records the conditions when it happened, although you DON'T have to repeat the conditions to see if it will do it again (which aparently the morons at the dealership think they must have to). If they give you a hard time and say you abuse the car, tell them you had it on a dyno when it happened.
They are lying to you, plain and simple. Tell them to replace the O2 sensor. If they give you too much ****, go over the manager's head. If you get shut down, just replace it yourself. Yeah, it sucks, but I've had too many dealings with dealership dumbasses to trust them ever again. I'll do my own work, thank you very much.
