old throttle body question

old throttle body question *pics!!!*
so i got my throttle body the other day and i put it in. i have been looking at my old tb and i noticed in the idle hole and around the edges of the butterfly thing the is about an inch on either side of black carbon??? it looks like what is in an exhaust tube. its black powdery stuff. is this normal? serious problem? halp!! i'll post pice if i can.

as you can see the black is on either side and there is less towards the center. i'm kinda gettin worried here. did anyone else's tb look like this when they took there old one out?

Mine looked a lot like that when I took it off after 50,000 miles. All kinds of oil residue and carbon build-up from the EGR. I just covered the electrical connections and sprayed it out with carb & choke cleaner. It blasted all that nasty stuff out of there. Gave it a quick wipe down and re-installed. Car seemed to run a little better. (Or maybe it was my imagination)

That is normal. Spray some snorkel cleaner in there, and use a toothbrush to clean it off. Too much of that residue build up will cause a rough idle. Definately nothing to worry about.
