Hooker Shorty Headers Keeps Burning #6 Plug Wire...Solution? I just did an LS6 longblock swap and added uncoated Hooker Shorty headers. I actually melted the #6 plug wire on the initial run-in, so I ordered a new set of wires as well as 1200 degree sleeves. I've only put another 500 miles on it since the install, and I've already melted the #6 plug wire again. I'm using Talor wires and they aren't cheap! I'm also using the Taylor heat sleeves.
Anyone else have the same problem with Hooker Shorties? How did you fix it? I thought the sleeves would fix it, I guess not.
The Taylor wires are just so thick at 10.4 mm, would switching to the MSD 8.5 wires help any?
Taking the headers off and having them coated is a last resort, but if I can fix it without coating them, I'd rather just do that.

I have Taylor wires that I carefully positioned around my coated Hooker shorties, without any heat-jackets. No problems yet. There was a stock wiring loom with heat tape that was touching my headers that I left there. Big mistake. It melted the plastic loom through the heat reflective tape. Poop. I haven't had an electrical issues, and I haven't thrown any codes, so I zip-tied it to some AC lines on the frame...no sense in opening it up and causing a problem. Heat jackets for your wires should work fine. I have been eyeing a set out too.
