Backpressure does help at low rpms...It can be easily seen on the dyno. That's why some have experienced substantial torque loss with a 4" exhaust. As far as the Bullet muffler goes, I don't think it provides much more (if any more) backpressure than a straight pipe.

Loss of torque from a 4" pipe may be because loss of velocity and subsequent loss of parasitic effect, not because increased backpressure.

Either way, I gained 20 lb/ft with the muffler over not having it...So whatever caused that, It picked me up!
