Alternator Overdrive Pulley Install Tool
This worked very well in tight spaces and got the pulley on there nice and tight.
- 1 x 24mm short socket (el' cheapo from PepBoys $3)
- 1 x 3/4" Grade 8 Nut (from Lowes < $1)
- Magna Steel or something of the like 2.50
- T-50 Torx bit about 3" long (see picture)
I have no welder as I assume most people don't so I just used the Magna steel around the nut and socket to create my own install tool. Just slip the torx bit through it all and with a breaker bar, vise-grips etc. and a wrench of some sort you can keep the alt. from spinning while tighning that nut down.
It may have been easier to remove the alternator but after doing a H/C swap I was done ripping things out. This worked great with all the components in the car.
Just thought I'd post in case anyone else had the same issue (or was too lazy to pull the alternator and have someone hit it with an impact gun
)
