is it ok to remove this??? i took out my windshield washer fluid/bottle yesterday, and along with it the two black plastic pieces that goes behind the bottle, right below the air lid down to the bumper...i was wondering if it is ok to take that out...it is not a daily driver, so i am not really worried about leaves and stuff getting in there, i was just wondering if it had a major purpose. thanks in advance. In my LT 1 car it over heated with out them in place. I've seen many LS1 guys running with out it and no real side effects. I can't for the life of me think that the 2lbs that you saved is worth the sacrifice of cooling confidence. Lose two pounds yourself or look else where for weight savings IMO. But I am sure some one else will chime in on there experience with these removed.
put the plastic pieces back in. if you want to remove weight, take the front bumper support out. thats 10-15 pounds right there. also remove your AIR pump, line, and wires. you can also remove your EGR but it will throw a code untill you get tuned

Way to go! I removed my washer fluid reservoir and one of the plastic pieces two days ago. 
Of the two pieces that had to come out in order to pull the reservoir I put the larger one that helps hold the front of the bumper in place back on but not the small black piece.
P.S. In terms of weight savings/transfer, I have also removed:
-back seat
-spare tire/jack
-AIR (LS1 edit to delete code)
-EGR (LS1 edit to delete code)
-front sway bar
-washer fluid reservoir
-some insulation from under the carpet in the back seat (only about five lbs so far, there is more to go)
My car is a daily driver/only car and anything I do to it, that is how it remains 24/7/365. Nothing is pulled just for the track.

i put the small one back in, i have no bumper supports, already removed...i think i am just going to leave the big one off and get the ftra or ssra...thanks for the input
