Default JBA headers gains

Any one on here have JBA headers, what gains did you see, what mods do you have. I am interested in adding headers but I want to remain emissions (sp) legal. Does anybody have any other suggestions?

My mods
2002 WS6 M6
MTI T1 Cam
ported TB and coolant bypass
Lid
GMMG catback
Cut out

Current #
~380rwhp
~360 rwtq

thanks in advance

You will probably see about 10 rwhp with those mods. They are great quality headers, but dont flow much better than stock.

^^^^ What he said.
Now, for the unavoidable question: Why do you want to stay emissions legal? Where do you live? Do you know what kind of inspection they do? Longtubes are much much better than shorties and will pass an OBDII plug in inspection. Hell, I pass with longtubes, no cats, duals, no AIR, and no EGR.

ask yourself if the 500+ dollars for ~10rwhp is worth it to you. i'd put that 500 dollars toward a good pair of heads or go the LT route.

LT headers, just put the stock ones back one when smog time comes... It's just a few hours out of two years

If you have to go shorties, I would recommend getting the BBK ones. The JBA, Edlerbrok, Hooker shorties are 1 5/8, while the BBK are 1 3/4 primary tubes. There are only like four or five people who have them and they have seen 12-15 horsepower on stock cam cars (with a new high-flow catted y-pipe). With your car, I would see more than that.

edit: you dynoed at 380 with those mods?! Wow, nice numbers!! And what is the T1 cam from MTI? Never heard of that and I can't find it on their site

I think you guys have convinced me to go with LTs but which ones sound good with the GMMG catback? I heard it does not sound good with no cats?

thanks again

THe 12-15 hp gain with BBK shorties was over 98-99 tube exhaust or 00-02 cast manifolds. I have heard you don't gain anything over the 00-02 manifolds. If anyone know different let me know. I am thinking of dropping the LT and going with a ported 01 manifold w/ dynotech cats and 2 1/2 true duals all the way back. Will the BBK outflow the port manifold?

I would assume so. Shorties are better than manifolds (even 00-02, just not by much, but make no mistake about it, they are), even ported manifolds. The BBK have been looking promising, but still will never be as good as LT's an Mid-legnths.

in my opinion i never really felt that shorties r worth it, i would save the manifolds, and go with the lt's...try passing emmision with them on...if u fail, u get a free try to correct it, just throw on the manifolds and pass that way, like said above, its only a few hours out of a year

In NJ we have these mobile inspection stations. Random Inspections and they are specifically made to find cars that are doing what you just described. They are teh
