Noise after Oil Change

I got a 2001 TA about 3 months ago, and changed the oil for the first time tonight. A friend of mine (who also has an ls1) recomended that I get mobil 1 synthetic 15w50.

I replaced the regular oil with the 15w50. But, now I am hearing some kind of a pinging, or almost knocking noise. Could this be due to me putting such a high viscoty oil in? Should I change the oil again with 5w30 or 10w30? What do you all think I should do?

i always use 5w 30 in my car, 50 is real thick IMO.

I agree I think the 15w50 is a bit thick...I run 5w30 in mine.
I was useing 10w30 but had a bit too much start up noise for me so went back to 5w30.
