Default Do it yourself header kit

installing an ls1 in a custom truck and Ive been thinking about making my own headers. Its something ive always wanted to try and i think this would be a good vehicle to do it on. Maybe do some equal length long tubes. Where is a good place to look for a kit and what size pipe etc should i look for?

btw ive got a tig welder to do them....what else do i need?

Go for it, we made our own pipes for LS1 conversion because there was nothing good in the way of off shelf pipes to suit my car.

We ended up MIG welding them like all the header companies do, after you clean up the welds they look good, but TIG will have a heaps better finish.

I recommend at least 1-2 spare sets of hands to help hold pipes in place and also do the hardest side first (whichever side has least amount of room and more obstacles) make the hard part of the pipes first, eg. we made the centre section of the headers first as they had to go around steering and clear oil pan first, then follow them up towards the heads as if you start from the heads (if space is tight) and you set a pipe off track slightly then its a pain in the *** to route them around everything.

Also tac the pipes into place first trial fit and then full weld the pipes once done.

Also saw on ebay a few weeks back a new set of header flanges for around $20-30.
