I assume you mean the Supermaxxs? FLPs don't come in stainless and of course the Supermaxxs don't have the switchable cats/ORPs like the FLPs do.
I'd just go with QTPs instead.

Yep - I've preached Macs for years. Had them on my stock internal car and loved them! Switched to Pacesetter LT's, then Hookers LT's - and lost power on the dyno and didn't go any faster on the track...

Sorry, I was referring to the SLP stainless steel headers and Y-pipe ... typo on my part.

I run mac headers on my car and it makes 555rwhp and 511 foot pounds of torque. I would say that mac headers work.

It would appear so.

Oh. SLPs are generally not anyone's 'first choice' in headers, those 'cheap' headers you referred to do tend to outperform (and install better) than SLPs...just an FYI.

Nice results for sure, but I already knew they more than hold their own against any of the LT brands out there...

FYI, I'm definitely going with some "coated" Mac's on my LT1...

Thanks for that info,

Mike

SLP's are tuned length like a *****' with great gains ... a personal preference if I had the money to buy LT's. Even the cheapER LT's are much more expensive than MAC's and don't perform better overall in many instances ... according to a lot of people who have had them. Still, my point was that the MAC's make great power. Bang-for-buck, I went with MAC's and this afforded me the opportunity to buy my Yank SS3600 TC, as well. Not here to argue differences between MAC's and LT's ... just here to state personal preference in reply to the dude's thread ... but thanks for the FYI.

I love my MAC's

Not offense bro, but you're trying to sell someone who has had 5 different sets of headers on their car including Macs

You are incorrect. LT's make more low-mid power on stock internal motors.

BTW Andy, I ran UNCOATED macs on my first motor for 2 1/2 years without any problems so STFU

I had Macs and I would still have Macs if I didnt get greedy for alittle more power.
IMO they will rival any headers on the market,I loved mine and shouldve kept them from the get go,I went 118MPH on them to boot..

Macs work,nuff said....

I wouldn't think they'd have a hole rusted through them, but you Jason were/are both members of the shitty looking header club. Any word on the bike yet?

I agree, given the choice between long tubes OR Macs and a torque converter I would take the Macs and TC every time.

Default They do feel good.

26 RWHP on unmodded MAC's is great ... untuned. Hopefully, I am making that much since I ported the daylights out of them before I installed. They sure feel like they make at least that much HP. Maybe with a good tune I can squeeze out a little extra power.

So was this gain on a stock tune?

Default With a tune?

How much do you think you can get out of them with a good tune?

So does anyone have any idea what kind of power difference there is between a set of unported Mac's and a set of ported Macs?

I've read it's between 2-3 RWHP on a stock motor ... just with porting the primaries. Cutting out/replacing the ball/socket ends and modding the collector is supposed to be better. I measured mine and must've took off a good 5/32" from the inside of the primaries where they bolt up to the headers. That weld is sure hard to grind down. This supposedly port matches them ... used the metal gaskets and they seemed to not cover the ports or primary openings, so, I would be willing to bet that I probably gained 4-5 RWHP by taking my time and porting them out right ... IMHO.

I had my T/A dynoed right after I had the Mac mids installed and I picked up 12 RWHP with no tune, my torque #s went ape **** @ 2500RPMs, the car pulled much harder off the line, infact I can no longer hook up.

One of the sponsors on this board told me I would pick up only 5 RWHP with those headers, I hate when people give me bad information, not to mention he said nothing about increasing my torque #s with Mac headers.

These #s are with the cats and Y-pipe that came with the header set from Mac. for $800.00, they are coated.
