Default Which Underdrive pulley do you like?

So far I've looked at the ASP and the SLP. The SLP claims the others have a problem losing the belt as where there's has tall retaining walls to keep the belt on.

What pulley are you using? What does it weigh, if you know? Have you had any issues?

I have the SLP pulley & love it, no issues at all. From what I heard it does weight alittle more thou? I liked the idea of the taller walls & I spin my engine to 6700+ so far no issues.

I have the March pulley and am very happy with it. No issues with it at all. I think it's pretty close to the weight of the stock pulley, but it really doesn't matter since it's fluid dampened (the fluid doesn't spin with the pulley). Also because it's fluid dampened, it won't mess with the knock sensors and does a real good job at absorbing engine harmonics.

I just installed an ASP pulley since it's suppose to be one of the lightest. It's a proven pulley, been used for years now with no problems.

I have the March pulley. I have had zero problems with it and have no complaints. Wish I had some dyno numbers for you.

Seems like they are all good choices. Which do you guys think is better, a fluid pulley or a light weight solid pulley?

Did you use just the balancer pulley or did you get the kit with the alternator pulley too?

Altenator charging issues even with the alt overdrive pulley. Have to keep RPM above 1200 if cooling fans come on or to many other loads. I guess we learn to deal with it.

Am I understanding you right? There are charging issues with the -25% underdrive pulley that make it necessary to keep the car above 1200 rpms if you have any accessories on? Even with the alt pulley, this still remains?

Are you powering anything extreme like a beefy car stereo system or anything unusual?

Well I guess I should say above idle...(-25% pulley with like +15% alt I think)When I am stopped and at idle, with the A/C on, the alternator needs more RPM to handle the blower motor and cooling fans to keep system voltage above 13.2V. It will run around 12V or so at idle. As soon as you hold the RPM at or above 1000RPM or so, the charging system can handle the load. With head lights on at night it just adds to the load.
No car stereo, or anything. Cooling fans, blower motor on high, and other system loads probably draw I am going to guess around 40 amps. With the stock pulley it was a lot better, but with the underdrives at around 1000RPM engine speed the altenator is spinning about same speed it was when the stock pulley was idling.

Nothing major to deal with, until you have to sit and idle for a while and you want to keep the girl friend comfy so you leave the A/C on, and have to keep your foot on the gas to hold the RPM up.

Ah, ok. It sounded much worse when I read your original post. I can live with that.

Thanks.
