You can find it here

I think Borla might make one too. They can also be had in stainless, but I think they're pricey enough aluminized. Shedding weight while freeing up exhaust is a beautiful thing.

You aren't going to gain much power that way, and rasp sucks.

But if you are convinced against any real headers that is really all you can do.

PS: If your state uses OBDII plug in diagnostic, just get some LT's!

Relocating/removing the the catalytic covertors IS THE MAIN ILLEGAL FACTOR in the installation of long tube headers. So by installing that ORY, you'll be JUST as illegal. I do not understand your reasoning here, and would appreciate an explanation. If you worry about a visual inspection, then an ORY should fail just as quickly as long tube headers, unless you plan on swapping them out every time. In which case, you might as well install MAC headers since most people won't know the difference.

Just trying to understand here Pewter, not tryin to flame you. But you come on here lookin for a certain answer and get upset when people give you better alternatives. Plenty of folks running LT's in CA, is that where you are? Give us some info man.

You say you need to pass emissions, but you want to modify your exhaust....

Going to an ORY w/stock manifolds will not pass emissions.

The money you'll spend for an ORY or the fabrication of a y pipe w/ high flow cats. Just isn't worth the gain.

IMHO, you should just get a cutout and be done. You'll gain the more HP w/ the cutout than you would by changing the y pipe.

blkZ28spt, thats kind of pointless. Venom has the right idea, go with a cutout and save some money. If you're not going to do it the right way, don't do it halfassed.

a y-pipe is a thousand times easier to just swap out when its time for emissions...in 5 years when im out of college and have the time to be swapping parts to pass emissions i will get the LT's. but why would i wanna wait 5yrs to start modding my car? if i do a little at a time i will gain more and more experience on mods. i dont have the money now to go all out on mods, all i want is to do a little at a time so i can learn more about my car and mods.

Yes I know, I am not a fan of that ORY on stock manifolds with a swap for emssions idea.

Why do you have to swap parts to pass emissions? What kind of testing do you have to pass? OBDII plug in is cake, as i stated before, I passed with flying colors with no cats, AIR, or EGR.

OK. You need to re read your own thread. Now look at the # of posts and the join date. What do they all have in common (majority)? Leave it or go LTs. You can do this on your own and you can pass emmisions with them, even with ORY. No point of changing what you have unless it is ***** out. We are just trying to help out a newB.

That would beat the living hell out of stock manifolds or shorties, BUT it still would not be as good as full longtubes. If you piece together a header/y-pipe combination that is meant to go together you won't have to weld anything. Most all companies make their own Y-pipe specifically to fit with their headers. I wouldn't get cats at all, there is no need for them. Once you move them at all (anything but stock or shorties) they are just as illegal in their new location as they would be sitting at home in your garage. The only reason anyone with real headers should have cats is if they want their car even quieter or they want to get rid of some of the rasp associated with certain mufflers. Oh, or if they are very affended about the smell. lol

We may come of a little harsh at times, but it's for your own good! Whatever it takes to convince someone not to sink money into an exhaust with stock manifolds or shorty headers will usually be done.

PS: I just had a thought......look up JEB99TA. He went from shorties to macs. You can just PM him or do a search based on user name.

I was unaware that a user's web forum join date or a post count could be assumed to correlate in any way to said user's knowledge or experience in a given topic. I learn something new on here every day
Don't let anyone steer your opinion. Also do yourself a favor and take information you find on a web forum with a grain of salt - regardless of how many posts the information provider has. Lastly, beware of the opinions of others. That said, I'm just providing info about a relevant option I have experience with.
BTW, the CA inspection is dyno + visual... as was the E-check in Hamilton County, OH. If you've got LT's and your state/county puts a mirror under your car, don't be surprised when it flunks. Oh, and kiss your weekend social goodbye. Just tell Ms. Rottencrotch you've already made plans with your headers.
Find out what you can get away with come emissions testing. Look at your budget (money and time). Look at the gains the mod will provide. Consider ALL options. You may find that a cheap and easy mod that deletes 20 lbs worth of restrictive (~360 cfm) cats and a flattened out pipe and requires minimal effort to pass emissions is good for you. You may not.

If you learn something new everyday, and somebody else has been around for hundreds of more days.............also you have to realize that we see people do this same thing all the time. Not only that, we have been through this situation ourselves as well.

He does not live in the POS **** state of California. You people have a WHOLE different ballgame when it comes to modding your car.

Absolutely. If you have OBDII plug in, you can run anything you want! What do you have to pass in Ohio?

last time i got an e-check they looked under the car with a mirror as well as plug whatever it is into my dash, im guessing OBDII. that was just earlier this year with my old grand am. so im thinking im not gonna be able to pass emissions with any major mods to my car. even though i only have to pass emissions every 2 yrs, it would be my guess to say it would be impossible to pass with any major mods such as running LT's or no cats.

i know that the best gain will come from running LT's, but since i basicly cannot do it, what are my other options? i would love to get headers but i just cant do it. besides, ive read on here that the stock manifolds flow quite well considering they are stock, or did i read this wrong? if it is true, than what would be the problem with running stock manifolds, ORY, and borla cat-back. it wont be the same as having LT's or MAC's, but for what i have to work with at this time, i would think that it would be my best bet for sound and a lil performance.

some say a cut-out, but thats just gonna cut befor the cats anyways, (why have cats if im just bypass them with a cut out.)

i dont get offended when ppl rip on me, cuz im a dick to others at times, plus its the easiest way to learn.

If you can't get headers due to emission just get a nice sounding, high flowing cat-back and call it good, IMO. The money would be better used elsewhere. What trans do you have?? If it's an automatic get a converter and drag radials in that thing ASAP!!!

OK. I said majority if you know how to read. There are people on here that have lots of experiance and knowledge that are new and less count, but most do not. Same goes the other way arround too, but most are knowledgable. Check the new LS1 owner threads. So don't get your panties in a knot demonstrating the size of your *****. I was not knocking anyones learnedness.
