a seemingly stupid question

On a three inch exhaust flange, the opening is three inches right? I know it may sound dumb but I just think I may have been screwed over by a shop who welded 2.5s on my Xpipe and headers hoping I wouldnt notice.

The opening of the flange should be 3" across...

2.5 is fine unless he's planning on actually taking advantage of his 1 7/8 headers and x-pipe. as soon as he starts needing to get rid of his exhaust quickly(nitrous, higher hp levels) those 2.5 flanges will become the bottleneck, especially since they are at the end of his collectors.
