Question Headers

Do you realy notice a huge horsepower gain out of installing aftermarket headers? Is it realy worth the money, also why should I not go with shorty's

Thanx
Ronnie

Before headers my best MPH was 106.90, after the headers my MPH went up to 110.63. I definetly think that LT headers are worth every penny, it really woke the car up.

Thumbs up

my car feels a bit sluggish down low.. It probably needs a tune. However, on the big end [i.e. after 60ish] it pulls like a raped ape!!.. and sounds killer too

I've been VERY happy with this investment!!

Yes.

Yes, unless you really love money more than horsepower/torque, then no.

Because they make little to no extra power over stock manifolds (especially the 2000-2002 manifolds) and they are certainly not worth the money...they do have their place in a 'strict emissions' inspection type scenario like in California where stock cats in the stock location is critical.

I would only get long tubes or nothing at all...look at the QTPs, a great quality stainless long tube.

My most favorite mod I did so far. Seemed to wake it up some and make it sound meaner.

LTs are a great MOD in the LS1. I plan to get Jet Hots within a month. Shorties just dont do much for the LS1, they will cause you to lose some low end torque. I've seen LS1s with bolt-ons pick up 20-26 rwhp with long tubes

yeah i dont really understand that comment either...seems like a bit 1-7/8" primary lt would lose low end tq, and a shorty would gain basically nothing.

It's all about scavenging man. Read anything on modern combustion engines and you'll realize that engines are just an air pump.
