MAF sizes...

I have a couple questions about MAF's and MAF porting.
Has anyone measured the diameter of a ported (home or aftermarket) stock MAF and compared it to an 85mm MAF diameter?
How thick are the walls of the 85mm MAF's, is there room for porting?

My thinking is why not buy one of the cheap GM 85mm MAF's from ebay and port it?

I have HP Tuners so I'd be tuning any ported MAF anyways, so does all of this make sense?

The 85mm MAF's are very thin walled. You might be able to port it a little, but not much.

I run an unported stock MAF on my car...

I opened a Delphi unit up to a true 90mm (all the way through). I had GMS swap the board and pull it to get specs for tuning though.

Tuning w/o knowing the VE would be a pain. Just as an example of do-ability...
