Arrow Latest on QTP Y-pipes??

I have read many different posts about these. I am looking at getting QTP headers and catted Y-pipe.

How have these Y-pipes been fitting lately??

Some posts seem to indicate that one would be better off having one custom made.

Are there other Y-pipes that fit, and fit better??

I know that quality of the merge and cats can vary.

I am slightly lowered and encounter speed bumps regularly.

I want the catted y-pipe for sound only, Am I better off getting the off road pipe and adding a bullet muffler??

Also, can I remove the AIR system and still run cats?

Thanks!!

mine fits very well... and the clearance is great.. although my car isnt lowered.

from what i have read and seen.... most that have issues with the y pipe is because they cant get the car high enough off the ground to work under there.

I'm curious about the answer to this too...I've installed my GMMG and am leaning toward doing QTP headers w/ Y w/ dual electric cutouts. How simple or difficult is it to wire the cutout switch? Sorry to hijack your thread, just curious.

I'm running their Catted Y pipe. It comes in quite a few pieces that need put together and it's really a big jigsaw puzzle. I tried putting it together myself underneath the car but you really need to have it on a lift to do it right. I ended up taking it to my local muffler shop anyway to have it welded up. The drivers' side header peace was not bent the correct way to fit so my muffler guy had to bend a new piece of 3" pipe for the Y to fit and the cats clear everything underneath. It's a very nice design with the merge collector and Magnaflow cats and 3" mandrel bent tubing but it's very expensive $500 and fitment is not all that great, but I would not expect any other Y to fit any better. The critical kick-*** component of the QTP Y-pipe is the 4" Flomaster Merge Collector.
That said, I would not put up with the fit of this Y-pipe if it did not have the Flowmaster Merge.

It was a bitch to install.

Do they make the dual electric cutout (w/ Flowmaster merge) w/ and w/o cats or is it an offroad only type of Y?

^ click on QTP----->

They make all 3 types. Catted, ORY, and dual elect. cutout ORY. All of them have the Flowmaster Merge.

I know they have all 3, but I was wondering if you can get the dual cutout Y either with or without cats? It looks like on their site that it only comes w/o cats?

This baically IS a custom Y pipe so no need to get one made, that's what this one is. With it's true Flowmaster merge collector and it's ability to be adjusted/twisted/angled it can be made to fit perfectly with a little attention to detail.
You cannot get cats along with the dual cut outs option.
If you want cats strictly for the sound I would still recommend getting the ORY or the 'dual cut outs' ORY and finding that 'sound' elsewhere (either a bullet or different cat back).

QTP has the best Y pipe (and long tubes) available IMO.

No it wasn't really for the sound...just wondering. I'd prefer to go with the offroad dual cutout Y since there are no emissions tests in Michigan and cops don't care about whether a car is street legal around here. I'm just curious how difficult it is to get everything tuned correctly with the cats gone. I know a lot of guys do it so it can't be that hard. Also I was concerned about the exhaust being nasty without them...I've heard some guys say it smells like raw gas if you don't have cats. Any tips for me?

Running without cats is not a problem at all with proper tuning. Have the rear O2's deleted. There is a gas smell with the cutouts open. With the exhaust running out the back, the smell is not a problem.

Good luck!

I know, I was actually just addressing the thread starter and his question here:

As for the fuel smells, as stated above it shouldn't be a problem after proper tuning.

The short pipe that goes to the driver's side header didn't fit on my car as well. Looks like it may be a common problem. The muffler shop I took it to had to make me a new pipe for that section of the Y. Also, the hanger on the Y is nowhere close to my factory one under the car. Other than that, great ground clearance. I see it as a necessary evil.

I have the ORY, but I agree, it was a bitch! after 2 nights under the car adjusting it , I finally got it right, and had the exhaust shop weld it up, but it flows good and sounds a hell of alot better than other y-pipe setups Ive heard. It was worth it.
