Default ORY problem

My buddie and I just got done installing LT's and ORY. Everything fits fine but under hard acceleration the ORY hits the bottom of the car under the driver. I have not heard about this prob. before and is irritating the hell out of me . It is about a quarter in. from the bottom of the car.

What about a radiator hose and hose clamps to absorb the impact?

Other than that, Pacesetter LT's and the Hooker cat-back combo are great, it is more quiet than my LM alone

i wrapped the area with header wrap so the rubber tube wouldnt melt, then used rubber tubing and a hose clamp and never had a problem since. That was 2 years ago, the tube hasnt even melted on me.

That's what I did.... I sandwiched in a piece of radiator hose between the ORY and floorboard. Don't worry about the hose melting. Mine hasn't and it's been on since this past summer.

When I had my ORY it did that. You are right about it being irritating. I got rid of mine and got True Duals.

Radiator hose should be able to take the heat.

I knew I did not spell irritating right.

I'm not that worried about it, it will be fixed soon. Now that I know what to do.

Take the Y back off and beat the underbody(where it hits) with a mal. It wont hurt a thing. If the exhaust is touching the body it will transmit false knock, and pull timing. Ive been there.

You could try the Mufflex y-pipe hanger...it's designed for this very purpose:

Anybody have a pic of this installed? I don't see where it would go, that would help the hitting on the driver side.

I'm going to try the radiator hose and clamps today and see what happens but the hanger looks like a good option also. I'll let you know what happens.

I am installing my TSP offroad pipe tonight and it looks like I will be having the same problem. I guess I will do the radiator hose and clamps.

That Mufflex bracket looks pretty nice also, I might look into that if the hose doesn't work.

I am putting poly motor mounts on to fix my banging. I do not like the idea of a rubber hose. The engine wants to move and putting a piece of rubber between my y-pipe and the car is not really fixing the actual problem, its the motor mounts.

Think I may go ahead and order my mufflex bracket. The heater hose just isn't cutting it for me. Made it better but it still bangs a lot. Ill post about how the bracket turns out, although I may try and do motor mounts too. If I can find the time . . .

I put the hose and clamps on last weekend and it work's great, no more banging and run's very smooth. If that did not work I would have ordered the hanger but it did work.
