Default why cat-back??

Is there any advantage over a magnaflow cat-back than just a weld in magnaflow muffler.

Is the I-pipe any bigger with the cat-back over the stock 3" size.

if you really have a stock 3" I pipe, then no,

but since the stock pipe is not mandrel bent, has a nasty crush bend over the axle, and not 3" then there is a benefit of using a catback over the muffler.

I think the stock I pipe is 2-7/8in so yeah there will be a difference, granted not much 2-3hp but the sound will be slightly different also.

Besides being stainless steel, the intermediate pipe is 3" mandrel bent vs 2 3/4" pressure bent , which tapers down to 2 1/2". the tailpipes are also mandrel bent. Still you may only pick up 5-6 Hp with the pipes vs 10 or so with a free flow muffler.
