Any Benefit to Porting This here LS6 Intake ? There is not too much on this subject. I've searched a ton.
I know Cartek will do this for cash and lots of people port the FAST (Including Tony's 480 rwhp AFR car) I have not seen anybody really get behind it 100% or express any kind of results (I know they won't be much but every single horsepower counts right) It just does not seem to be a prominate mod for some reason (or am I wrong).
I got this LS6 just sitting here, a charged up dremel and MLK day off.....
Could there be a negative effect on velocity/smooth airflow ?
Why would the factory have extra "unneeded" material ?
Could the intake be screwed up as a result of this ?
The set-up will be LS6 Intake/62cc AFR 205's/LGM longtubes/222/222 566/566 -112

well, the intake is injection molded plastic... short of any casting flash, its already a very accurate shape.
the heads are made using modern casting and machining techniques.. so they're also more accurate then older heads.
the heads and intake meet up almost flush from the factory.
about the only thing you could do would be to make sure they meet flush.
just be careful to keep them flush.. a very common newbie porting mistake is to grind the edge to make the two meet flush, but this only makes it wider then narrower again. you want the airflow path to be straight and smooth, not just the mating flanges.
