Tbyrne MAF ends good or bad
Tbyrne MAF ends good or bad I just purchased the Tbyrne MAF ends for my 99 TA and now I heard that they might be bad for the tranny. These ends are "slightly" ported. Can someone please tell me if they have installed these ends and if I am going to have problems with them.

Some people have issues some don't. On the auto cars, porting the MAF ends can cause issues with TC lock-up and some shifting issues. M6 cars obviously won't have any trans issues due to this, but this can cause both A4s and M6s to run overly lean and produce knock retard (KR).
All you can really do is try it and find out. Better to buy the aftermarket ends (like you did) rather than porting your stock ones so you can always go back to stock if there are issues which cause you to want/need to.....

If you have issues, just pull 'em off. Very easy mod to undo when you use aftermarket ends rather than porting the stock ones.
They are a waste of money, and you will run lean. I don't know a single tuner that will touch a car with ported MAF ends on it, they will all tell you to bring the stock MAF because the ported ends drive the computer nuts. They let unmetered air past the MAF, which defeats the whole point of having a MAF.

I played with some MAF ends using HP tuners. The short term trims go ape-**** and I didn't notice any gains after I corrected the airflow. They do open up the airway though! Mine are on a shelf for now.
