THANK YOU! At least someone knows what I'm saying.

Everyone:
Sorry for being a dick. I'd hate for you to waste time and $ on an idea that makes no sense, plus you obviously didn't get me the first time so I just turned the volume up.

Thanks!

I agree that we have to mess with what works...but this "idea" had to be stopped. What's next? The "O" pipe?

You're right about the H-pipe and my theory, though. This design will obviously even/scavenge more than simple duals, but still. Do you need all the extra pipe. I bet I could take two 45' pieces, a borrowed bansaw and an old Mig and make an x after about 2 tries.

For speed, you don't need an X or and H on an LS1. True duals will provide the most power (and hence the most speed).

After miter-cutting tube and doing all the fabwork I'm not so sure you will realize any benefit. If you dont mind the time invested, I guess the only cost then is material. There are a few inheirant problems with the X/H pipe you propose, mainly the changes of volume and speed

You're better off spending the time "placing" the x in the proper position than trying to make one easier to build. Balance tubes are not all equal and nor are they effective in just any place used. They will help noise just about anywhere you place them, however scavanging will only benefit when all the correct variables are in place to allow them to work. This means considering exhaust pulse, EGT and velocity. I have seen changes of 3-5 rwhp in moving an x-pipe in stock type vehicles and even upto 10 in some modified applicaitons. The type of balance tube is also crucial to consider. Depending on the cross-section of the X or H, optimal placement will change too. As I said before not all x pipes are the same.

IMHO X-pipes are not really all that expesive now and their are quite a few available ... for all the work you will have vested you will be better off just buying one.

Really ... as with most claims so general this statement is entirely false.

thanks oxidizr for clearing some things up. If it comes down to it, i'll just make the X, not buy one. I was just getting opinions on that idea because it looked like it could be easier to make. I guess I have my answers now!
