New Pacesetter LTs
New Pacesetter LTs I have some Pacesetter Race Long Tubes ordered from TSP, and due to arrive the end of this week or the beginning of next. ( Great Customer Service, by the way. ) I was just wondering about the installation tricks needed to get them in without a hitch. I've seen guides saying that you have to notch the K-member, or grind off the block tab, but I've also seen guides stating that you don't have to. Apparently it's all in the version of the headers, whether they're the new revision or not.
Can anyone give me a definative answer on this? I just don't want to have to do any more cutting/grinding than I have to. Also, please don't just point me towards an install guide. I think that I've read pretty much all of them.

Just put a set of the race headers on about a month ago. You do not need to notch or grind anything. Just get the car up as high as you can, and install from the bottom. Piece of cake! I had to pull the #7 spark plug to get my drivers side in, most say they didn't. It's a great time to put new plugs in anyway.

I put mine on Saturday race version coated and didn't remove any plugs or anything. they went in with out any trouble and I did it by myself on my garage floor on jack stands. EASY install, good luck and enjoy them.

How long did you guys wait for your coated Pacesetter's to arrive after placing the order? The order for mine went out last Monday... just curious how much longer I have to wait until I can check them out

I installed a set two weeks ago and it was not as bad as I thought it would be. I did not have to modify anything, everything just slid into place but there might be a snug fit under the driver where the header meets the Y-pipe, when I got on it after the install it hit the bottom of the car. If this will be a problem either beat the **** out of it to knock the bottom up, you can use radiator hose and clamps wedged in there, or order another hanger that was designed for that problem. Don't know the link for the hanger, Sorry.

I have the old style and they were still easy to put in. It took like 2 minutes to notch the k-member a little with a grinder. I also cut the casting off of the block with a sawz-all.

I guess we'll just see what happens when they come in. I'm gonna use my jack and some 4x4 pieces of wood to get the car up on some 6 ton stands, so height shouldn't be a problem.
Also, I'm gonna ride around for about two or three weeks on open headers
:, while I wait on my tax return money, and then I'm gonna get the TSP True Duals, so there'll be no Y-pipe fitment problem...

I ordered my LT's from TSP on the 9th and my order still says "processing..." oh well. They do have great customer service because Jason let me know that they have to get the LT's from Pacesetter. Unlike F-body motorsports who I ordered a Spohn STB from 2 weeks ago and I'm just now getting the invoice in the mail, but still no STB.

I highly recommend removing the spark plugs prior to any exhaust manifold/header swap, unless you plan on replacing them at the same time. Also, put the new spark plugs (or the old ones for that matter) on after you put the headers on. If you don't you run the risk of snapping one or more of them. Even if you're extremely careful, it's wiser to just remove them.
I'm getting a local guy to install mine because I do not have access to a lift. I was a little weary of letting someone do this, but this guy has an amazing WRX and a Foxbody Vert 5.0with a crazy suspension set-up and Hoosiers all the way around that dominates the Auto-X. He recently installed Pacesetters on an 02 WS6 and was higly pleased and even went the extra mile and put a couple small pieces of header wrap on part of the LT's where the plug wires might touch.

LOUD!!! I finished my header install around 9:30 on a sunday night and fired her up, and DAMN it was loud 
I loved it, but the 3 neighbors that came out of their house wondering what just happened didn't. Enjoy!
