Default Battery Problem?

So I'm thinking my battery is dying . . .

What is happening:
-Car after sitting(overnight for ex.) has become hard to start,
-When turned on, the voltage guage jumps to around 17volts, and then falls back to normal after driving for awhile.
-When I just turn the key to on, without starting the car, it reads 10-11volts.

Thanks for the help

If you suspect the battery, remove it and take it to NAPA or other parts store that has a load tester. They can tell you if it's good & will not charge you.
