Default Help tapping exhaust manifold thread.....

I have purchased a tap to try an repair the threads on my driver's side cylinder head. It is the 4th bolt hole from the font......the rear one of the twins in the middle. I tried the lazy route Monday of just trying to do it without removing the manifold and it didn'w even get started. Must I remove the manifold?? You do not think I will need to remove the head do you ? Man I hope not .

TTT. Someone help me out please. I think I have a leak since one bolt is missing and it might be messing with the O2 sensor. The car bucks and jumps a lot especially at low throttle. If I can get these threads repared; I can retorque the manifold and buy a new O2 sensor and see if the problem stops.
