Simple muffler question

Simple muffler question I am looking to get a new muffler, probably Borla Pro XS. I was told that a single 2.5" in, dual 2.5" out, flows better than a straight 3" muffler when replacing a stock muffler (on my Tahoe). This sounded odd, is there any truth to this? 
Dead wrong for two reasons. First, the 2.5" ingle inlet is more restrictive than a 3" single inlet. Secondly, a straight through muffler creates less turbulence and flows better than a single inlet dual outlet muffler.

Well to begin with you would be going from a 2.75" pipe on your tahoe to a 2.5" pipe, that there should answer your question as to which one to get. If I were you I would buy a single in/single out 3" muffler of your choice
