Pulling engine, where to hook chains?
Pulling engine, where to hook chains? Can someone help me? I have never pulled the engine before and I am wondering how is the best way to hook the chains without breaking anything. The intake manifold is already off if that helps. Pics would be great or just a detailed description. Thanks guys. Steve
i used a leveler and had a 4 point system; 2 bolts on the front and 2 on the back. i used two power steering bolts and two pressure plate bolts. that was when pulling from the top with the tranny removed. i put everything in from the bottom.
I used the bolts that held the grounds to the back of the head. My chain had a flat piece of steel on each end with a hole in it though. I placed one on the front of th ehead, and one on th eoppisite head in the back.

Thanks for the tips, I wasn't sure if it was ok to use bolts into the heads. I will purchase grade 8 bolts just to be safe. Thanks again, and feel free to post more tips, I will check this thread often.

Here is how we pulled it, and Here is how we installed it. You can't tell, but the transmission is bolted to the back of the motor as shown here , all went in as one piece. Hopefully there won't be a next time, but if there is, it will come out just like we put it in
