Default Carb LS1 intake converted to EFI...

Who's all done this? I know I've seen pics. my questions are:

1.) who did the EFI conversion and how much?
2.) were you able to keep any aftermarket rail setup that you bought for a regular LS1 intake?
3.) how much are throttle bodies for this application?
4.) how do you pick the right TB?
5.) how did your throttle cable setup work out?

Thanks

Might want to PM Ryan K, he is the one who had the injectors drilled and made the rails for the one on my car. The rails are just universal injector rail stock, the injectors are meant to be straight up and down on these so your LS1 rails wont work.

Accufab, wilson, holley and some others sell TBs, all you need is a 4150 style 4 hole TB, they vary from 1000-1200 CFM and are 500-700.00 new. They do pop up used quite a bit, not here though. Some have provision for IAC motors and some dont.

My throttle cable (stock TCS throttle cable) loops around the front of the engine and uses one of those cable brackets that a plate that bolts between the carb/manifold, I am also running a 1" HVH spacer. I may switch it around and try a shorter cable with the TB mounted the 'normal' way but it works so I'll probably leave it.

Haha, i did the search and came up with SOME answers. I ended up PM'ing Ryan just cause of what he had posted before.

I also had forgotten I already made a SIMILAR post when they first came out and, John, thanks again for posting all those links, HAHAHA.

Main concern was if it would work with the stock LS1 PCM.

KP, how much space do you have between top of air filter and top of hood then w/ the 1" spacer. I am gonna run a plate style nitrous system so i figure the plate might be just a bit bigger than your regular 1". Also was looking into running the 90* elbow setup with a FAST 90mm TB but worry about clearances. Already have aftermarket fuel rails

Just two 'L' shaped aluminum brackets per side hold them down, here is a better pic, I trip over the thing every day If your rails are drilled on an angle they wont work, you could maybe drill the intake at an angle like a stock LS1 setup but that wold take some welding I think.

I have a NX gemini twin plate and its ~3/4 of an inch, some N2O plates are thicker and some are thinner.

I dont see why you couldt run the stock PCM, as long as the TPS and IAC were in range it should be OK if you run in SD, you could just hook a hose to the stock MAP sensor.

The top of the stud in the pic is around an inch from touching the 4" cowl hood underneath so its pretty tall. With no filter and a low profile throttle body like the wilson it may fit under the cowl with no spacer.

The wilson elbow/single blade TB would be nice, I really doubt it would fit under a stock camaro hood though - maybe..

yeah, i know i'm going with a cowl, just wanted to see how much of a cowl hood i'd need. elbow single blade looks like it would be the mike moran 5" cowl hood
