Question QTP vs. Kooks

I am just trying to get opinions on both of these headers. Pros and cons, if there are any. Considering getting some headers in the near future. We have 2 seperate cars also.

1st car: '98 Formula: lid, 224/220 .581/.581 116LSA, cut out and 3.73's

2nd car: '00 Formula: lid 230/232 .572/.574 111LSA, ported tb, and cut out. (This car has SLP LT's at the present time but we plan on taking them off and switching to something else).

QTP's-they have a turbulence spike in the collector. What made my decision between the Kooks and QTP's, was I found more info on them, and they were slightly cheaper.

We at SDPC are a big supporter of Kooks. We have had nothing but good results and happy customers. Kooks is well known for great hp gains, great fitment, and excelent ground clearence. You also have choices when you go with Kooks. On the headers you can get them with or w/o the emission tubes, and the Y pipe comes with or w/o cats. PM or email me for the best price available!!

You really can't go wrong with the Kooks or the QTPs. Just go with whichever one you can find cheaper.

Kooks can be had with the velocity spike as well. I remember way back Nick@Kooks telling me that the spike really wouldn't net any more gains on a stock engine. Honesty right from the horses mouth. He could have told me it would just to up the sale but he did not. Bottom line, choose what ever you can get a better deal on. Both are superior headers. I chose Kooks because of the lead time and got them from Matt@TTP. He gave me a great price. TTPerformance ------->

They are both great headers and the only real difference I can see is in the catted Y. QTP sets the drivers side cat further back for clearance.

I have 1 3/4" QTP's headers on my car and I'm very happy with them, but I cannot recomend the Catted Y. Mine ended up in the garbage. The fit was terrible. It was the newer version with the Carsound cats and hit the transmission support.

I ended up chopping it up and getting a custom one built with the parts. I suggest getttin a good shop to custom fit one to your car. For the Y pipe the Kooks fit did look better, it just did not use the Flomaster collecter like the QTP.

I spent way more than needed on the Y pipe so beware in advance.

I must admit I now wish I went with the Kooks 1 7/8" or 2" now that I'm building a 415ci LS2. Oh well hindsight.

I have the QTPs.. i got them instead of Kooks because of the HVM collectors, The True Merge Y Pipe, thier QTEC cutouts and they were very helpful over the phone.

Same exact reasons why I went with the awesome QTPs...best LS1 header that one can buy IMO.

Well I have the Kooks and they were a perfect fit. I got the 1 3/4 stepped to 1 7/8 and they came with a turbulence spike or whatever it is called in the collector and it did not cost extra nor was it requested so it may be that it is standard issue now (at least on some of the part #'s). As far as the merge collectors, those can be had on the kooks as well for an extra charge, but I decided against them because I find it hard to believe they could help that much when running through a full exhaust. Granted if I was going to run open header it might help, but with exhaust I do not think it would. I paid a good penny for mine, but they are stainless and coated, the y-pipe fits bad *** (I think I have more ground clearance now than I did stock and no banging) and it looked like it would flow much better than any other non collector type Y I have seen. The only thing I did not like about it is that it was only galvinized steel (for some reason I expected it to be coated, I guess because it was about the same cost as a coated jet hot or hooker Y).
