Default Anyone remove support tube from Volant?

I'm talking about the support molded into the filter end of the intake. I suppose they engineered it there for strenth, but have any of you guys cut ot out? It wouldn't be any problem to seal the two holes, but would it be possible to get a good seal at the filter without the thing collapsing?

It seems to me that it could disrupt/restrict the airflow an awful lot and needs to go.

Thoughts????

I don't have that intake, but do you have any pics of what you are talking about? Might be able to help you out.

I have a Volant on my 02 SS. The original ones didn't have the plastic
brace in front of the filter. Guess what? The intake got warm and the in-
take got soft and quit sealing when you tightened up the clamp around the
filter. Volant sent the NEW intake no problems asked. Just glad I found the
problem before engine damage.
I wasn't the first person to call about the sealing problem and Volant sent
me a new part in a couple days.
