Is the ASP pulley balanced?
But anything that is machined of separate parts - that fit together into a rotating mass - could be unbalanced if rotated to 6000+ rpm. If an unbalanced part was bolted to the crank of an engine, it could induce unnecessay vibrations.
Does anyone know if the ASP is balanced? Has ASP ever stated they check their balancers before sale?
If a pulley *does* cause vibrations from improper balance or installation, it can in turn set off things like your knock sensors (false knock retard... it sucks) which is definately not good.
The newer ASP pulleys are SFI approved I do believe and have less out of balance issues then the older ones. The newer ones also accept a double roller timing setup whereas the older ones had to be machined to have it work properly.
Hope that helps!
