My LS1 sounds like a ricer. HELP!!

I just installed mac mids and ORY with a flowmaster 80 series muffler. My problem is at about 2000-2500 rpms it sounds like a f**in ricer with baffles, it doesn't do it at wot or at the same rpms in park, only at about half throttle going down the road. Any suggestions are appreciated.

What you're hearing is probably rasp. Some have put a bullet in the I-pipe to make it better, and some have run different mufflers. Just about any ORY set-up will have some rasp to it. I was running a Hooker ORY and a magnaflow muffler and had very little rasp. Do a search for "rasp" and you'll find some reading material.

sounds like RASP to me. Switch out your FlowMaster for a Hooker muffler and that should sound sweet. I don't know but to me it sounds like having that restrictive Flowmaster kind of defeats the whole purpose of having headers.

With my cutoutopen or partially open, I get the same effect ... just louder. With the cutout closed, it pushes all the exhaust through the Borla muffler and I get a lot of compliments on the sound.

I'd say change the FlowBuster for a free-flowing tri-chambered muffler ... just my .02 cents .
