Default SLP LT Headers question...

I know SLP longtubes hang a little low but I was thinking about getting a set. Mainly bescause they come with an O/R Y-pipe as well. Does anyone have the SLP longtubes, and if so how do you like them?
http://www.slponline.com/view_product.asp?P=30053
And also what is the diffrence between the LT's above and these?

Don't get them. I had them. They hang low and don't have the down low tq response of real Long Tubes (mainly Grott Design based ls1 LT's).

There are SO many other choices now that come with ORY's.
See QTP (stainless steel, top of the line headers)!!!!!--------->
On a budget? Get the Pacesetters at TSP------->

Yea, I was looking at some other headers besides SLP, because I also wanted to put 1.5" lowering springs on. I was looking at QTP, what QTP LT would be the best? 1 3/4" or 1 7/8"? Also do the QTP's come with a Y-Pipe, or do you have to order one seperatly?

I just order a couple of weeks ago a set of Pacesetter's with ORY.
Still waiting for the headers to come in now to get them installed.
Pacesetter tends to "tuck" up alot nicer than some other headers. SLP's does hang really LOW. So beware of that.
I also have the "Hotchkis" lowering springs on as well.

If you want to lower your car, don't even think about SLP LT's.
At QTP (and most other places) LT's are one order, Y-pipe is a separate order.
The QTP Y-pipes are some of the highest flowing Y-pipes due to their true Y merge collector. It actually merges the two pipes together instead of slamming them together. It's a little bit of work to get it on, since it comes in a few pieces, but well worth the extra effort.
As for the SLP LT's you'd have to move the tranny over to install them, while the QTP's slide right in from below with no clearance problems.
If you have the money to spend, get the High Velocity Merge Collector option. I got them and they're awesome. 1 3/4" is what you need. 1 7/8" is for seriously aggressive H/C setups and/or more cubic inches.

QTP and Kooks are the only way to go when it comes to headers. If that's too expensive, then look into something more along the lines of Pacesetter or Jet-Hot.

QTP/Kooks-will outperform any header out there it seems, especially SouthFL.02.SS^ w/ his HVM's ont he QTP's vs. SLP LT's

Make plenty of peak power (about a little more than mid lengths really). They have a crappy power curve however. I picked up lots of down low response simply with a LT swap (this was before I swapped intakes).

When, in a drag race... are you ever below 4-5 k?

When I was bolt ons only, my SLP LT's gaev me 28 peak torque, and 25 from 2800 up.

Heck, I used to trap 118 (cam only) with the SLP LT's (so they do well up top), but they did not do much down low, where I spend lots of time, around town, commuting to and from work.

Between the low hanging SLP LT's and X-pipe, I cuoldn't even make it into certain shopping centers due to their speedbumps -that gets old after a while.

I also had SLP LTs and I'm lowered about an inch (Bilstein suspension pkg.)...they hang way low and I had problems dragging over speed bumps and going in and out of my driveway...no matter how slow I went or what angle I approached, they drug. I switched to Kooks with ORY and the difference is night and day...they tuck up so well, it's like having stock ground clearance...

I'll most likely go with the QTP's. I read a little on them, they look very good. Looks easier to put on than the SLP's as well.

I got SouthFl's old exhaust set-up with SLP LT's 3inch Xpipe and Magnaflow 4x9's. the car sounds great considering i went from just a loudmouth. yea it scrapes occasionally. haven't had alot of problems with speed bumps except for those shopping centers that have those extremely large and pointless speed bumps.

basically the majority of people hate their slp headers probably because everyone else hates them. I dont have a problem with mine and im lowered. The top end was REALLY noticeable once i put them on. Id reccomend them but I wouldnt buy them new (too much money).
