Default Running with Cutout open.

Ive heard that cold air can get to your valves and bend them. Do any of you guys worry about this? I have my cutout right before the pipe goes over the axle and a gutted cat. Let me know about this.

Yeah your fine you would have to run just about right off the head to do that! Some people run them in there y pipe so there closer to the engine than back at the axle. Have fun!

I have my cutouts about 6 inches off the headers on shorties and i havent had a problem yet. I'd think it would have to be really cold outside for that to happen.

The pipe should stay warm long enough to heat the air a bit even on a really cold day and give the valves time to cool enough. I've only heard of valves doing that when no manifold was on there. Don't know how or why that happened though.

yea with the cutout back by the axle your always be fine, QTP has the dual cutout y pipe with no cats. the cutouts are in place of the cats and ppl have no problem with that.

Valves can cool too fast (downshock) without a manifold after the exhaust port. The mass of the manifold itself retains enough heat, and takes long enough to cool, to cool the valve down gradually. Imagine what could happen to a hot exhaust valve just inches from the exhaust port with no header, a cold breeze passing by could be trouble.

No air coming in the cutout will ever make it too the valves... if it does it will be as hot as the rest of the air.
