Granetelli MAF impressions ? Hey all, i just recently got my 99 ss and i saw it already has some mods on it. It has a red granetelli maf and hooker cat back exhaust system. Does anyone have this maf in their car, if so did you feel any difference, dyno numbers ? Someone told me these mafs make a lil more power by running the car leaner.
I have a GMS MAF and I just added it to my car this week. Its by far the most noticeable mod that I have done so far to my car. I can really feel a huge difference after the install. Even though I havent done much to the car..the MAF has been the best so far.
You won't be able to tell the difference in about 2 weeks. The computer will get used to the MAF and it will be a pointless mod. The stock MAF's are NOT restricitive until you hit more than about 400 hp.
I don't know how you could see the MAF being the best mod out of the cutouts, CAI etc.

I've heard nothing but bad things about the SLP and GMS MAF. When I had to buy a new MAF for my car I went with a stock piece. People complain of tuning issues and idle problems with the aftermarket ones. Like blind said the stockers are not restrictive unless you're making big HP.

With that said, I personally would not go out and buy a GMS MAF since the stock MAF is good for up to 4-500 horses. I'd descreen mine and port and polish it for free. Oh wait, I did do that!
And as redhardsupra said, any sort of MAF mod will require calibration in order to sustain proper fueling functions.
