Default catalytic converter recommendations???

well, im about to install a dynomouth on my longtubes and tsp ory pipe. im hoping i will be ok with the sound. but i know i may need to throw some high flow cats in the y pipe. ive searched around and most of the ones ive seen are really big in diameter. doesnt anyone sell a cat that is the same diameter of the inlet/outlet?? im trying to maximize ground clearance as much as possible. also, where should i install the cats?? if i put them in between the header and y pipe, then the fitment of the y pipe will be off cuz of the curved lines of the underside of the car. the y pipe was designed a certain way, and moving it back would screw up the fitment. so should i put the cats down the y pipe a bit closer to the merge? i guess i could always buy tsp's catted y pipe and replace the cats with some that will give me better clearance. help anyone??

I have Magnaflow (Carsound) Cats. They came with the Y-pipe from Kooks. I would put them between the Headers and the Y. that is where mine are. You should be able to make it work.

i dunno why yall are so gung ho against cats...theyve only shown to rob a few hp. the only reason i would get them would be to clean up the rasp. i just want to know a good cat thats fairly small in diameter so as to not rob ground clearance.

I guess I just prefer the sound.. You are right not a big difference in HP with high flows, just my personal preference.. I have heard good things about these

Smallest and best flowing that I have found are the dynomax power cats . 3" cat is 4"
dia, metalic substraight instead of ceramic for great flow.

If you put them in your y-pipe, you won't just weld them to the front of the pipe because you are right, it will be too long and won't fit right. You'll have to cut out a section of the Y-pipe about equal to the length of the cats and custom fit them.
