Had to get my cutout redone Wednesday I went to the local exhaust shop, the one I always go to for any exhaust work done on my cars.
I had a cutout made and welded to my stock exhaust there 5 or 6 yrs ago there.
4 days ago I noticed my car was loud as open exhaust with the electric cutout closed. Looked under the car and noticed half of the cutout tubing from the stock exhaust to the 3bolt flange is missing due to corrosion, like half of the tubing blew off.
I went back, told them I'd like a new cutout made and welded on. So they put my car on a drive on lift. The welder looked like jesus with his hair.
I told him I'd like a 3" tubing out level with the passgener side exhaust
(this is due to the driveway ramp was redone by the damn town and they messed up because my old cutout was angled down and it scrapes when I leave the driveway, it has a 'bump' effect in the middle of the ramp)
So he uses a torch to cut the old corroded metal off from the exhaust, gets out a 3" tube and measures, figure out how to position this. Doing exactly what I wanted.
Then he welds it, while he was doing the top part of the cutout, sparks and molten metal falling down fell into his hair and caught on fire! A 3" flame i saw, I yelled out fire!
He threw down his helment and patted the fire out with his welding glove. It smelled like burnt hair in there for a min
He then goes back to finish the welding, then welds on the 3" 3 holes flange onto the end, mounts the electric cutout and it was all done.
